Hey I’m Nick. My life pretty much revolves around my 2 teenage daughters, and my wife Sophia who I’ve been married to for over 10 years. She is a successful entrepreneur and watching her hard work has given me the courage to start my own business. Showing our kids you can build something from the ground up is a great life lesson we take pride in as parents. Also a huge thank you to my mother in law Teri for all the sewing help she has given me. She is truly a major part of Northern Lids’s success.
I hail from the hockey town of Cottage Grove, MN. Growing up, I was always playing sports… and still do (men’s league hockey and anywhere I can golf I’m there).
I remember getting my first hat for Christmas. It was a black Los Angeles Kings hat that I wore until It was light gray. My dad was a hat guy. He was always talking about opening up his own hat store and selling them out of our local hockey arena.
He loved hats, because something as simple as a hat becomes a part of you and shows who you are and what you want to represent.
My dad never opened his store. He passed away in Oct 2018 from early onset Alzheimers.
I decided to honor his legacy, I would create a quality hat.
Not just any hat but something that had a personal touch to it.
Like a patch. I love the look of a stitched patch on a hat.
Patches have been around a long time. They meant something back in the day. If you had a patch on your hat or clothing it represented something and you wore it with pride.
That was the start of Northern Lids.

Special Thanks To

Sophia, My Mom and Dad, Teri, Charlea and Georgia
